The Case for Studying With Us

Six qualities that define how we teach and what participants take away from our programmes.

Instructors With Substantive Careers

Every person who teaches at Tunas Wealth has spent years working in finance, tax, economics, or financial planning — not as a sideline, but as a career. They teach from experience, not from textbooks alone.

Rooted in Malaysian Context

The EPF, LHDN, Amanah Saham Nasional, syariah estate frameworks, Malaysian property law — our programmes use local examples, local regulation, and local market context throughout.

Small Cohorts, Real Conversations

Foundation Year cohorts are capped at twelve. This is not a lecture format. Participants can ask questions, describe their circumstances, and have the instructor respond to what is actually relevant to them.

No Product Agenda

We do not sell investment products, insurance, or anything else. We are compensated by programme fees only. This means our curriculum reflects what is educationally sound, not what is commercially convenient.

Preparation and Written Materials

Reading guides arrive two weeks before each Foundation Year session. Session notes are provided after each meeting. The written record of the course is yours permanently — not locked behind an online platform.

Pace That Allows Absorption

The Foundation Year addresses one topic per month. That spacing gives time for the previous session to settle before the next begins — which is how adults tend to learn material they will actually use.

Professional Expertise in the Room

Our instructors bring careers of ten to twenty years in relevant fields. Ahmad Hazwan spent fourteen years in private wealth management. Suraya Ramli practised as a tax professional. Lim Kah Wai worked as an economist at a regional research house.

This means that when a participant asks about a specific situation — an inheritance, a property decision, the question of when to start drawing from the EPF — there is someone in the room who has spent years thinking about exactly these questions.

  • Faculty with 10–20 years of relevant professional experience
  • Backgrounds in wealth management, tax practice, and economics
  • Capable of addressing questions specific to participants' circumstances
  • Teaching is the primary role — not a supplementary activity
  • Reading guide sent two weeks before each session
  • Four-hour Saturday morning format for Foundation Year
  • Session notes provided for permanent reference
  • One substantial topic per month — not fragmented into brief clips

A Process Built for Working Adults

Our Foundation Year format was designed around the reality that participants have professional and family responsibilities. Sessions are held on Saturday mornings, so a working week is not disrupted. Written materials arrive in advance so the seminar time can be used for discussion rather than introduction.

Each session is followed by written notes. The gap between sessions allows participants to sit with the material, identify what still puzzles them, and bring those questions to the following month.

Clear, Transparent Pricing

Our fees are stated plainly and cover everything: session attendance, written materials, and reading guides. There are no add-ons, no follow-up product recommendations, and no upsell into financial services.

For adults who are used to financial services environments where the stated price is often a starting point for further commercial engagement, we think this transparency is itself a benefit.

What Sets Tunas Wealth Apart

Genuine Independence

Because we are not affiliated with any financial institution, product provider, or adviser network, our instructors can discuss the merits and limitations of any asset class, product type, or strategy without a commercial interest in what you choose to do afterwards.

A Year-Long Commitment to Depth

The Foundation Year Programme is one of the few personal finance programmes in Malaysia that allocates a full year to the subject. That length is not inefficiency — it is a deliberate choice to give each topic room to be understood properly.

The Family Financial Conversation

We are one of the few education providers that addresses the family financial conversation as a substantive topic — not an afterthought. This covers how to discuss money, inheritance, and planning with adult children and ageing parents.

The Introductory Half-Day

We offer an introductory session specifically so that potential participants can experience the teaching method and the material before committing to a longer programme. This is not a sales pitch — it is a working session with its own content and take-home notes.
